Phobias Hypnotherapy Drogheda (Online)
Most people think phobias are about the thing — the spider, the lift, the dog, the plane, the motorway, the dentist.
They’re not.
A phobia is really about what the mind believes will happen if I face this.
And underneath nearly every phobia is the same core fear: “If I can’t get away from this… I might die.”
That’s why we say: there is only one phobia — the fear of death — and everything else is how it shows up.
So whether yours is spiders, flying, public speaking, driving tests, needles, hospitals, bridges, or even being alone… what you’re feeling is the body’s emergency system firing to protect you.
The good news? Phobias respond brilliantly to hypnotherapy — especially analytical work — because we don’t just calm the reaction, we deal with the inner anxiety that created the phobia in the first place.

What is a phobia really?
Here’s a nice, simple way to explain it (and you can use this on your website):
A phobia is an outward expression of an internal anxiety.
The thing you’re scared of is on the outside — but the real fear is on the inside.
Something in the past taught the mind: “this is dangerous.”
Sometimes it was actually dangerous.
Sometimes it just felt dangerous at the time (childhood, shaming, embarrassment, getting trapped, being judged, being powerless).
The mind bottled that feeling… and later, when it met something similar, it said: “RUN.”
That’s the phobic response.
Anxiety vs phobia
Anxiety is general: “I don’t feel safe.”
Phobia is specific: “I don’t feel safe when faced with THIS.”
But both are powered by the same fuel — bottled-up, unresolved emotion.
That’s why we can remove phobias when we remove the fuel.
Two ways I treat phobias
1. Suggestion / Clinical Hypnosis
This is great for simple, single-issue phobias — flying, tests, spiders, elevators, injections.
We use hypnosis to:
calm the body’s fight-or-flight
install safety and control
rehearse the situation in the mind
create a new automatic response
People love this because it’s fast — sometimes 1–3 sessions does it.
2. Analytical Hypnotherapy / Pure Hypnoanalysis
This is for the deeper, stickier phobias.
The ones that have spread (started with spiders, now it’s all insects… or started with lifts, now it’s crowds… or driving… or going too far from home).
That spreading tells us the real cause isn’t the object — it’s internal anxiety looking for somewhere to land.
Analytical hypnotherapy lets us bring up and release that stored emotion so the mind no longer needs to create a phobic focus.
That’s normally 8–12 weekly sessions, and as always: I never charge for more than 12.
That’s how you get permanent change — not just “I was OK on that flight, but it came back.”
Why people hate their phobias so much
Because they know it doesn’t make sense.
The logical mind says, “This is stupid.”
The emotional mind says, “We could die.”
Guess which one wins?
That’s why we don’t just talk at it — we work with the part of the mind that runs the emergency system.
Online makes it easier
All sessions are online, so if your phobia is about travel, hospitals, crowds, or being too far from home — you’re covered. You can do the whole thing from your own sofa.
I work with clients in Drogheda, Dundalk, Louth, Meath, Monaghan, Cavan and across the UK.
Your next step
If your life is being restricted — routes you won’t take, places you won’t go, people you won’t see — then the phobia is already costing you.

We’ll see whether this is a simple phobia that needs suggestion work… or an internal anxiety that needs the fuller analytical approach.
